Faculty/Staff Lunch Policies/Duty Free Lunch
Teachers are needed to supervise their students during lunchtime. When a teacher supervises his/her students, the teacher is permitted to leave to 3:00 p.m.
Teachers will be responsible for escorting their students to and from the lunchroom.
Long distance dialing is restricted to school related manners. If it is necessary to make a personal long-distance call, it should be made through an operator and charged to your home phone. To make a school-related long distance call, dial 9, before dialing the area code and number.
Each teacher should have a substitute folder on file with the principal. The folder should include:
1. Plans for the day
2. A class roll
3. The daily class schedule
4. A list of car riders, bus riders (include bus numbers)
5. Classroom Rules, procedures
6. Information regarding students who receive daily medication
Please make lesson plans on a weekly basis. Lesson Plan books will be checked on a weekly basis.
Please post class schedule and class roll outside of your classroom door.
Documentation of GPS Objectives
GPS will be documented in lesson plans.
Each grade level should submit a playground schedule to Mr. Martin which includes assigned supervision areas (State Standard).
Students must be closely supervised on the playground at all times. Teacher Assistants should not be solely in charge of playground supervision.
Supervision of Students Outside Classrooms
Please make sure that your students have passes when they leave your classroom unaccompanied by an adult.
Students must have a written parental permission for each field trip. The field trips should have specific educational objectives which are related to your grade level GPS objectives.
Please submit the lunch order at least 5 days in advance, for field trips that include school lunches.
When assigning math homework, please follow the Saxon Teacher’s Guide. Research shows that more than 30 minutes of homework in a subject results in lower scores.
Copying Materials for Instruction
All copying will be done by office staff. She will screen copyright violations of materials. If you would like your material to be copied on time, please put the materials in a designated box in the lounge.
Students should not be given a grade on each assignment. Ten to fifteen grades per subject, per grading period, are sufficient. Reminder: Parent Connect xp – Linking Home and School on the Internet
Students in danger of retention should be given possible retention letters at midterm. Also, the comment section on the report card should contain a statement concerning a possible retention remark. The assistant principal and the principal will check report cards before they go home. A schedule will be sent to you later.

Dear Parents,
Regular attendance at school is an absolute necessity for good student performance. Georgia school attendance laws require all children between the ages of 7 and 16 to attend school unless they have a lawful reason to be absent. Please remember that students must bring a note signed by the parent or guardian in order to be credited for an unexcused absence on their return. Students who have received excused absences will be allowed to make up the work. Please review the Student Handbook regarding absences from school.
Also, it is important that your child reports to school on time so that he/she will not be marked as tardy. Your child is marked as tardy after 8:00 a.m. He/she needs to be on time in order to receive instruction from the teacher on assignments. At Midway, we want every child to reach his/her highest potential.
If you have any questions concerning attendance, please call
Mr. Martin at 457-2440. Remember your child’s success is important at Midway.
Sincerely,
Allen W. Martin
I have read this letter concerning the attendance policy.
