The Operation Explore Program at Creekside serves gifted students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Creekside Elementary School will be using a combination of two approved models to better address the needs of gifted students by increasing services provided by gifted endorsed teachers. These models, resource and collaboration, will promote critical and creative thinking and problem solving skills, community involvement and communication skills, and knowledge of self. One day a week, in pull-out classes, students will focus on content enrichment, higher level thinking skills, and creativity development through interdisciplinary instruction. Gifted program resource teachers will deliver instruction in the regular classrooms by working with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction for all students, particularly those identified as gifted. A gifted specialist will also work with the regular education teachers during planning times to differentiate instruction by collaborating to differentiate instruction for all students.
