IB - GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goals of the Baldwin County Schools are to develop each student who, in terms of his or her potential:

A. Achieves competence in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, mathematical, computation and problem solving.

B. Acquires skills and understandings necessary to improve both physical and mental health.

C. Recognizes the value of cultural arts and the humanities, and the use of leisure time activities to contribute to his or her physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

D. Understands and respects the basic structure and functions of the American system of government and the American economic system.

E. Knows the basic legal rights and responsibilities of the citizen under the American judicial system.

F. Develops a set of moral and ethical standards which are based on respect for other people and personal property and are appropriate for life in a democratic society.

G. Understands and accepts themselves and others.

H. Recognizes relationships between current societal and environmental problems and changes and the individual's role and responsibility.

I. Recognizes the need for and develops a desire for life-long learning.

J. Knows the principles of sound personal financial planning and management.

K. Acquires skills and knowledge necessary to select and pursue a career reflecting personal interests and abilities and develops a sense of pride in work.
