IA - PHILOSOPHY

The members of the Baldwin County Board of Education believe:

A. That the institution of education exists to serve both the individual and the society.

B. That education is essential to the preservation and protection of a democratic form of government as well as a complex technological society.

C. That education is the primary vehicle through which people realize their full potential and worth as human beings.

D. That education exists to transmit the cultural heritage and knowledge of the society to successive generations and to inspire students to examine ideas and to develop their own set of moral and ethical standards.

E. That education is a process through which the quality of life for all people can be improved and through which individuals can be prepared to lead happier, more productive and more rewarding lives.

F. That each child should receive educational services which are substantially equal to other students and which are appropriate to his or her needs.

G. That each child should be given the opportunity to develop his or her maximum potential in acquiring skills in the affective, cognitive and psychomotor domains of learning.

H. That schools belong to the community and that participation of parents and citizens improves and enhances educational opportunities for students.
