EBCB/JCDAD - STUDENT MANAGEMENT


All students are advised annually riding a school bus incurs responsibilities of obedience to those reasonable rule of good conduct. Abuse of this privilege may result in its loss.

1. The school bus driver has full responsibility for the behavior and safety of all children transported on his or her bus.

2. When a student misbehaves, the driver will give a misbehavior slip to the school. The driver's responsibility for notifying the parent ends when he or she gives the slip to the school. The Director of Transportation and/or the Principal must be told of this action as soon as possible either in person or by telephone. The driver will determine and tell the Director of Transportation and the Principal the seriousness of the problem. The student is denied Transportation until notified by the Principal or Director of Transportation or driver that the problem has been settled.

3. Outside ordinary conversation, classroom conduct must be observed.

4. Students are to assist in keeping the bus clean by keeping paper, and trash off the floor. Students must also refrain from throwing anything out of the window.

5. No student shall at any time put his head, hand or arms out of the window whether the bus is in motion or standing still.

6. Students must enter and leave the bus in an orderly manner.

7. The driver has the right to arrange the seating of children in the bus to maintain order.

8. Students are to participate in a bus evacuation drill.

9. A student may be put off the bus by the driver if the student is endangering the safety of others or demonstrating serious misbehavior.

10. When a student is denied transportation by a bus, this denial does not change the requirement of attendance at school.

11. Bus transportation is furnished as a convenience, and in order for it to function satisfactorily, full cooperation between the parent and driver is required.



12. There will be no eating, drinking, use of tobacco, or drugs while students are on the bus.

13. Students who deliberately damage school buses, will be suspended from riding any bus until the Board of Education receives payment for damages done.

14. Students must be on time; The bus cannot wait for those who are tardy.

15. State transportation funds are provided for students who live more than 1 1/2 miles form the schools they attend.

16. Riding a school bus is a privilege. Do not abuse it.

SURVEILLANCE

In keeping with the purpose and intent of this policy and to further promote school bus safety and student discipline, the Baldwin County school system shall reserve the right to install and to use video cameras and other electronic devices on school buses, in and outside of school buildings, and on playgrounds for the protection of students, employees, and visitors.
